Sometimes We Dream

Sometimes We Dream

Lulu Press' first Anthology, Sometimes We Dream, I am proud to say was my idea and I was responsible for it's editing. We wanted to keep everything fair to all poets concerned, so we had as many poets as possible submit up to three poems as well as a brief biography.

All the royalties from this book are going to St Jude Childrens Research Hospital. There was a poll to decide where the proceeds should go, and St Jude was by far the most popular.

All the poetry in this anthology deals with the theme of love, hope, and family. For this reason, the anthology is named because we all have dreams, wishes, desires and fears and this is certainly true for the children and families at St Jude. By providing a positive anthology, we hope to bring some relief and hope to these families and brave children.

Here is one of my poems, it is included in Sometimes We Dream. I wrote this when I was 17, so I've had it around for a while. It's one of my favourites.

  • ~World Whisper~
  • Laugh, and tell me everything. Invite me into
  • your private world.
  • Whisper your hopes fears and wishes
  • into my ear.
  • Give me your hands;
  • give me your soul
  • I won't make any
  • Illusions or hidden promises.
  • Sit, and tell me a story
  • I will listen
  • as though the world
  • was silent.
  • Look into my eyes
  • Like I was the last person
  • on Earth
  • Your crystal eyes
  • tell waterfalls of stories
  • How I wish words
  • could describe so that
  • I could package them
  • into cohesive volumes
  • Then present them to you
  • You say to me
  • You want to live.
  • I say to you
  • Free your mind,
  • Free your soul
  • And let the
  • Words fall
  • like rain
  • from your
  • lips.
